The ask

When a publicly traded tech company closed a major acquisition, leadership wanted every employee, new and existing, to open something special on Day 1. Not a slide deck. A real, personalized welcome.

The goal was cultural, not promotional. Incoming employees needed to feel like they belonged from the first morning, and the existing team needed a reason to celebrate together. We had less than three weeks, a close date that could still move, and offices across North America, Europe and Asia.

What we built

A custom box in the company's signature color, printed on both sides and personalized with each employee's name. Inside:

  • A branded notebook, pen and lanyard
  • An engraved brew mug and a t-shirt from a sustainable goods partner the client already loved
  • Impact cards telling the story behind each piece
  • A branded water bottle, just for the new team members joining through the acquisition

How we pulled it off

  • Fast, controlled creative. We presented two box options and had approved art six days after kickoff.
  • Rush production. Our manufacturing partner ran three box sizes through the weekend to hit the in-hand date.
  • One receiving point. The partner's mugs and shirts shipped straight to our Texas fulfillment center, so the client never had to manage freight between vendors.
  • Customs handled up front. One checklist covered everything international shipments needed, days before pack-out.
  • A built-in go / no-go date. We planned both paths around the deal close, so nothing shipped before it was certain.
  • Smart allocation. We split apparel sizes by site headcount, with a buffer for larger offices, so no one came up short.
  • A first-article check. A fully kitted sample was photographed and approved before the full run was packed.

The result

Boxes were on desks and welcome tables for Day 1. Headquarters set them out the night before, and remote employees received theirs at home as addresses came in. When the budget tightened mid-project, we adjusted quantities without moving the date, then tracked every leftover unit and closed the project out cleanly.

Employees were thrilled, and within weeks the client came right back to us for their next gifting project.

An acquisition lives or dies on whether new people feel like they belong. A physical, personalized welcome on Day 1 made the integration feel real, not just announced.

I am beyond grateful for all of you and excited about this! Employees are going to LOVE this!
